Horse Things That Kids Can Do for Fun as a Cow Boy and Cowgirl

Hither at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West we strive to provide fun and educational programs for visitors of all ages. Through our Art in the Garden series from a few summers ago, nosotros provided easily-on activities for kids to enjoy with their families, while creating something they tin can take habitation.

The first week of art in the garden that summertime was themed "Cowboys and Cowgirls." Kids created different crafts having to with cowboys and cowgirls, while learning a fiddling more than about them. Each craft was a lot of fun and the children thoroughly enjoyed creating and showing off their work.

Cowboy Boot Decorating

Cowboy boots

One of the most important aspects of cowboy vesture are cowboy boots. But, did you lot know that this item type of kicking helps the cowboy practice his work better and protects him from the elements? The narrowness of the boot and the camber of the heel helps him sideslip out of the saddle and makes riding and roping much easier. Today, cowboy boots can be heavily decorated. Decorate Your Own Cowboy Kick

Supplies:

  • Paper (whatsoever size you prefer)
  • Scissors
  • Cowboy Kick Template
  • Markers, colored pencils, or crayons

Directions:

  1. Follow the link and print out the template, or draw a large cowboy boot on a sail of paper.
  2. Cutting out the boot.
  3. Colour and decorate your boot yet you desire.

"Cowboy" and "cowgirl" wearable are very popular fashions, but did you know that all the original cowboy garb was actually designed for specific functions to help the cowboy in his tasks? Every piece of the cowboy'due south gear was worn for a item reason. Brand  Your Own Popsicle Stick Cowboy or Cowgirl

Supplies:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Pair of scissors
  • Glue
  • Construction Newspaper (Any colors y'all similar)
  • Markers or Crayons
  • A small spool

Directions:

  1. Mucilage i popsicle stick over the other to grade a cross shape.
  2. Later information technology dries, glue ii popsicle sticks in a Five-shape from the bottom of the cantankerous. (These are the legs)
  3. After the glue has dried, glue a modest spool on the back of the popsicle sticks. (Right under where the two original popsicle sticks intersected to form a cross.)
  4. Cut out a shirt, pants/skirt, boots, and hat for your cowpoke.

Stick Ponies

A cowboy's horse was and yet is very important to the cowboy. He wouldn't exist able to do his job without his horse. A equus caballus was also a cowboy's best friend, as the two spent hours together. So why not make a equus caballus with your own kid?

Brand Your Own Stick Pony

Supplies:

  • Thick newspaper or thin cardboard (manila folders also piece of work great)
  • Horse head template
  • Dowel or yardstick
  • Scissors
  • Yarn
  • Pigsty Puncher
  • Stapler
  • Markers or crayons

Directions:

  1. Follow the link and impress out the horse caput (Ears optional)
